Choosing a system
Hot water system repair or replacement?
The questions to discuss before deciding on a repair or a new hot water system.

A fault does not automatically mean replacement
The sensible option depends on the problem, the age and condition of the unit, and the proposed work. An electrical fault may be repairable, while other problems can make replacement worth considering.
Ask about the whole job
Discuss the cost of the repair, the condition of the rest of the system and any known limitations. For replacement, ask about the new unit, electrical supply, installation requirements and removal of the old unit.
Suitability matters
A similar-looking unit is not necessarily a suitable replacement. The household’s needs, system type and available electrical supply all need to be considered.
Ask for the proposed scope and price before agreeing to work. A conversation about your existing system is a useful place to start.
